The Warm Welcome drop-in Tribute- Volunteers’ Week

Today marks the start of Volunteers’ Week and I want to pay tribute to the many volunteers in Ettingshall.

One particular project that is run almost entirely by volunteers is the Warm Welcome drop-in at All Saints Church. It is a church-based community project that offers a safe space to sex workers in Wolverhampton.

The Warm Welcome drop-in has seen residents and church members work together to become a hub for vulnerable women to receive warmth, safety and support over the past four years. Volunteers and professionals from many support services attend (housing, drugs and contraception advice).

Last year, I volunteered on the project myself and gained a real insight in to the fantastic work that the project does.

Last year, the Warm Welcome project, alongside partner charity Changing Lives, celebrated a Big Lottery grant they won which will fund four new posts across the organisation to ensure good work like this can continue.

But, it is important to note, that without the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, the project would not be able to function. They create a safe space offering vulnerable women a place to come and receive help and support. I am privileged to have been a part of this project and can’t put in to words how much the project serves our community. Congratulations to everyone at All Saints and Changing Lives on all your achievements.
