It was great to meet up with Charlotte Johns (Head of Strategy) and Heather Clark (Service Development Manager) this week.

As Wolverhampton’s digital innovation councillor champion, I’m pleased that the council has developed a Digital Infrastructure Strategy, which is being presented to Cabinet on 13 November following a public consultation. This includes full fibre broadband as a key priority, in recognition of its importance to the City of Wolverhampton, its residents and businesses, and to futureproof the city for the future.

As a council we have secured local full fibre network funding to support the rollout of full fibre broadband to public sector premises, we are encouraging developers to include full fibre in their developments and embedding full fibre plans in our city’s regeneration activities. Full fibre is also crucial to supporting the rollout of 5G, a technology as fast as fibre with huge capacity to connect thousands of users at the same time, with the potential of being transformational for our city. #TheSmartCityOfWolverhampton
