In relation to the fire at Arthur Greenwood Court on Saturday…

It would appear that a discarded cigarette (or similar) was put into the chute, then created a situation requiring the Fire Service to attend.

Upon WMFS arrival I understand the fire appliance was hindered by parked vehicles, some of which were parked in the ‘Emergency Vehicles Only’ hatched area.

Thankfully WMFS were able to resolve the smouldering waste bin at the bottom of the chute, and also ventilate the communal areas of the upper floors where smoke had risen to.

The Wolverhampton Homes tenancy team in conjunction with the concierge team are working together to identify the owners of the vehicles to enable conversation about parking in areas intended for emergency situations.

We do need to ensure the safety of all high rise residents and that the emergency services are able to access blocks when necessary.
