Getting to know the Toros

Last night, Ettingshall Branch Labour Party held their AGM. I was pleased to be returned as the branch secretary and thank the ward members for their ongoing support.

More excitingly, we were joined by the Toro family. An extremely hard working family from Venezuela living in Ettingshall.

We were given a talk by their 15-year-old son Herbert Jnr who spoke about the political crisis that Venezuela is in and how it escalated.

The Toros were political activists in Venezuela, persecuted by the dictatorship that they were living under because they spoke out against the Government.

The country is in desperate and critical need of a restored democracy.

I’ve said it before and will say it again, Maduro is a dictator and is the antithesis of everything that socialism stands for. He has routinely deceived every socialist value.

Democracy will only be restored when he is removed, and fair and proper elections can take place in Venezuela.

The horror stories we heard of hyperinflation in the country are chilling with nurses and teachers salaries paying just $3.50 per month.

I’m so privileged to know this beautiful family. Herbert Snr now works in Featherstone Prison, supervising inmates on kitchen duties. Edna works for TK Maxx, and the pair have added a third son to the Toro clan, baby Aaron.
