Last week, we celebrated National Allotments Week and on Saturday I was pleased to join friends and colleagues to mark this week at the city’s most popular allotments at Howell Road Allotment.
Plotholders, members of the community and others joined me and Wolverhampton Mayor, Cllr Greg Brackenridge as we unveiled the site’s new sign. Using my ward funds, I’m pleased to have donated money to support this fantastic community asset which offers so much to the local area.
The site is run completely by volunteers on behalf of the Council and they have helped the site grow from strength to strength.
We know that time spent outdoors improves mental health and many plotholders speak about how much their well-being has improved since taking up their veg-growing hobby.
