Young Councillor of the Year Nomination

I was so pleased to be nominated for Young Councillor of the Year for the second year running. I didn’t win and was up against some tough competition but nevertheless I’m so grateful to have been nominated.

I feel truly honoured to be a Councillor in Ettingshall, in our great city of Wolverhampton and it’s especially a pleasure to serve in the ward where I live.

There isn’t a moment in which I take the honour of being an elected member of our city for granted. I am immensely grateful to the constituents and colleagues who nominated me for tonight’s award.

As well as being a Councillor, in my spare time, many of you will know that I have a keen passion for seeking peace in the Middle East and it has been life-changing to take part in humanitarian aid work in Palestine over the last few years. This is a cause close to my heart.

My passion to fight racism and hatred has saw me protest against the EDL and the far-right over the last two years, this fight will continue throughout my personal and political life in years to come. As it’s written in John 16:33, ‘the gates of hell will not prevail against you’.

And finally, I’d just like to say a big thank you to my parents and wonderful friends who have supported me on every step of this journey so far.

And now for the wine ???
