Talks with the express & star

Absolutely loved my little lunch today at the Express & Star. I’ve been writing a column for them now for two months.

These columns have allowed women in the Black Country to have a bigger voice in journalism and in the region. Journalism is stereotypically a white, male dominated sector so it’s great to see that the newspaper is doing something to challenge this stereotype. And we are not writing about the ‘traditional topics’ that (historically) women used to write about in newspaper columns: ‘knitting’ or ‘how to keep your man happy’. The columns are empowering and allowing us to share our opinions and feelings on the things that we are passionate about. Whether that is Politics, Sport or relationships then so be it. Thank you so much to the guys at the Express and Star for this platform just to be me!
