How we are ensuring our children have the technology to continue their learning

BBC Midlands joined me at Bilston C of E School recently to talk about an exciting project that I’ve been heading up for Wolverhampton’s Labour Council to ensure that we bridge the digital gap for pupils in our schools.

When the pandemic first hit our city and schools were closed, our Council delivered over 800 devices and 4G routers to families who needed them to ensure that children could still access their education.

The Government’s scheme to support online education has been ill-thought-through and insufficient, leaving many children who have had to self-isolate without the means to get online to access their lessons.

That’s why I’ve worked with Councillors in the most digitally excluded wards to secure funds which have paid for dongles and data sim cards to ensure that children can get online to their lessons.

Children of the city are our future and no child will miss out on their education under this Labour Council.Read more: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-55220950
