As Bilston Church of England Primary School’s ‘Good’ rated Ofsted report comes out today, I’m pleased to announce that I have recently been appointed as the school’s newest Governor.

I will replace Andrew Johnson, Honorary Alderman and former Councillor who has been a school Governor in the city since the 80s where he has served on a number of school governing boards.

I am thrilled to have been appointed as the school’s new Governor. From my own experiences, the school thrives as a community school, they go above and beyond to ensure that children get the best start in life. The glowing Ofsted report released today is testament to the hard work of all the staff, headteacher and governing board and I’m excited to join the team.

The Ofsted report describes the school as a “harmonious place” which is determined to prepare its pupils well for modern life.

Inspectors the school last month, and found that headteacher Gary Gentle and his leadership team had “maintained the good quality of education in the school”.

Describing Bilston CofE Primary as a “harmonious place”, inspectors say that pupils enjoy going to school and feel respected. Pupils “show mature attitudes when discussing their feelings and speak articulately about the values of tolerance and equality”, while their conduct and attitudes to learning is “very positive”.

Well done to all the pupils, staff and leadership team. What a great way to start the summer holidays.
