Day of Action clean-up of the streets in Ettingshall

It was amazing to work with the community in All Saints yesterday on our Day of Action where we cleaned up the streets of Ettingshall.

There was a huge effort from members of the community, Council officers, volunteers, residents, ward Councillors and others to send the message out that fly-tipping and littering will not be tolerated in our community.

We had some extremely useful intelligence from local people and even seized a vehicle responsible for fly-tipping.

Since Wolverhampton Council launched the ‘Keep Your Street Neat’ campaign along with the ‘Shop a tipper’ campaign, instances of fly-tipping in the city have halved. Our message is clear- we will crack down on those responsible with fines or by seizing vehicles!

So grateful to everyone involved in yesterday’s event.

All Saints Clean Up- Day of Action

Yesterday, Councillor Beverley Momenabadi and Councillor Zee Steve Russell spent the day in All Saints with local residents, Council officers and members of ASAN The Workspace to clean up the local area. The City Council drove away with over a tonne of fly tipped waste and seized a vehicle which has been caught on camer fly-tipping.The City of Wolverhampton Council and ASAN carried out a ‘Day of Action’ to clean-up Wolverhampton’s All Saints area which led to an unexpected seizure of a fourth vehicle wanted for fly tipping. We teamed-up to tackle a wide range of issues including waste, highway and community concerns. The ‘Day of Action’ included a deep clean of targeted streets, repairing street signage, redundant street poles and gulley cleansing as well as carrying out general maintenance and logging future improvement works. The team removed over one tonne of fly tipped waste and collected 30 bin bags consisting of dropped litter from the streets in the All Saints area. Council officers and ward councillors were also talking to residents about their concerns, informing them what can and cannot go in their bins and speaking about fly tipping issues. We'd like to thank all the volunteers and residents that got stuck-in the ‘Day of Action’ to improve their community and take pride in keeping their street neat.We sent out a clear message yesterday that, as a Council, we are serious about clamping down on fly tippers. The message couldn’t be more simple – pay the fine or get your car seized!Mary Mulligan Rob J Bailey Paul Ryder
