Back at it again with Christmas holiday fun

Following the success of the Yo! Summer Festival, the City of Wolverhampton Council organised a fun-packed week of activities for the October half-term holidays.

And, we’re back again for the Christmas holidays with a fun-filled schedule of activities.

Children and young people will continue to be given opportunities to get involved with a wide range of events to keep them entertained and engaged. There will be a mix of free and paid for activities with something for everyone from outdoor / indoor events, arts and crafts and music to sports. There will also be plenty of opportunities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

At least 18,000 young people and families took part in nearly 500 events and activities over the summer and, as well as giving children and young people fun activities to keep them busy, delivering these types of programmes also had a positive effect on reducing anti-social behaviour – the Yo! Summer Festival helped cut instances of anti-social behaviour by 39% compared to 2018, when there was no similar programme of holiday events.

As a council, we are building on our commitment to give children and young people the best possible start in life and, thanks to the support of local partners, we are looking forward to delivering another packed programme for youngsters and their families over the Christmas holidays.

Although we received no Government funding to cover half-term activities for our kids, our Wolverhampton Labour Council understand how important it is to provide these activities for children and families. And, our commitment to our children will not stop!
