My Friend, Lamina Lloyd’s, story

I want to tell you the inspiring story of my friend Lamina Lloyd.

Until 2016, Lamina had a flourishing career as the manager of a local Citizen’s Advice Bureau. However, Lamina had Meniere’s disease, which resulted in progressive hearing loss- so much so that in 2017 she had to give up work. She has two children who themselves have additional needs. She could no longer hear her children, who had to act as her ears. Her deafness caused her to become quite isolated.

Last year, she had a cochlear implant fitted which changed her life. She can hear her children again and is now working for the National Deaf Children’s charity.

The reason I’m telling you her story is because she’s now committed to helping others who are deaf. She’s doing a 10K run to raise money and this year, for my birthday, I’m asking friends and colleagues to support her fundraiser here:
