Totally devastated to learn about the passing of my colleague and deputy leader of Wolverhampton Council, Councillor Peter Bilson.
He passed away on Saturday aged 66 following a period of illness.
Peter had an inspirational journey in Politics, serving the city as a Councillor for almost 40 years.
He was the Deputy Leader of the Council and the Cabinet Member for City Assets and Housing, and proudly served as the Mayor of Wolverhampton at the turn of the Millennium when the city status was granted.
Peter was kind, fair and a great role model to us all. His work in the city on tackling homelessness and rough sleeping will always remain part of his legacy.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
