Picking up litter during bank holiday weekend

Cllr Beverley Momenabadi (Lab. Ettingshall) leads local residents in the litter pick along the canal in her ward.

Over the bank holiday weekend, I organised a group of volunteers as we carried out a litter pick along the canals in Ettingshall and on the streets in the surrounding area.

Our team collected six bags of litter which included everything from cans to clothing.

The litter pick is one of many initiatives that I’m championing in Ettingshall to crack down on littering. I’ve recently had two litter bins installed and leaflet dropped residents to raise awareness.

Littering is an ongoing issue in Ettingshall and other areas within the city. There is no excuse for dropping litter or not picking up your dog’s poo, it makes the neighbourhood look dirty and fines will be issued.

It was great to have a local group of residents out who are really motivated to keep the are clean. We’ll be making this a regular activity.

We want everyone to respect our neighbourhood and work with us to ensure we’re all proud to live here.

Spread the word- if you get caught littering or not picking up your dog’s poo, you can receive up to a £75 fine. https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/wolverhampton/2019/08/28/neighbourhood-blighted-by-people-dropping-rubbish/?fbclid=IwAR34Ag5j5P86lTZGtPJEv0_Xo6FhvRe9VWxIyQhsTutgM7HC4aslg1WnI80
