Kicking off Wolverhampton’s Business Week

This week kicked off Wolverhampton’s Business Week.

I was thrilled to introduce the city’s key digital events as the Councillor Digital Innovation Champion for the City of Wolverhampton Council, my role is to support the rollout of futureproofed infrastructure and innovations.

The City of Wolverhampton is proactively supporting the rollout of futureproofed digital infrastructure in recognition of the benefits it can bring to our residents and businesses.

This is becoming increasingly important with COVID-19 accelerating the adoption of digital services by 2-5 years.

The City is currently seeing the commercial rollout of full fibre broadband which will give us gigabit speeds to meet future demands for connectivity.

City Fibre who are currently rolling out full fibre across Wolverhampton are creating local jobs for local people too.

Wolverhampton is one of only 13 cities nationwide where all four Mobile Network Operators have announced the rollout of 5G with two operators already live.

This means ultrafast speeds and ultra-reliable, secure and low latency which will be transformational for industry.

As we relight our city, future proofing digital infrastructure remains an important of this.

This week has already seen wonderful digital sessions as part of business week such as: Business Advantages in Gigabit Cities, Benefits of 5G and 5PRING Application Accelerator and Discovering Digital Innovation Technologies for Business Growth.
