An issue which came up at my Sedgemoor Park (Ettingshall) surgery was with the roads and pavements on the estate.
Following this, I have been on a site visit with the Head of City Transport and the Highways Operation Manager for the City of Wolverhampton Council to identify the issues with the roads and pavements and come up with some solutions.
Following the inspection, we found that the majority of the road surface looked in reasonable condition. It was apparently treated in 2015 and appears to be holding up quite well. But there were some issues.
The City of Wolverhampton Council officers are therefore suggesting that we undertake some widespread surface treatments to the pavements throughout the estate. The intention is to undertake this in the next year.
The worst area of road was the island at the entrance to the estate. This is starting to break up and requires digging out and reconstructing. Again, the intention here is to programme this large piece of work within the next 18 months.
In the interim I have had the island temporarily patched up using the Velocity machine. This took place at 5AM on Saturday 31st August and I have included some pictures.
Please bear in mind that this is not the final solution. It won’t look that pretty and it isn’t intended to last forever. It is however an attempt to keep the island safe and useable until the extensive resurfacing can take place.
I will be in touch closer to the dates of the more extensive work as we are conscious that this will cause some short-term disruption which we are keen to minimise.
I was extremely pleased with the Council’s response to the ongoing issues with the roads in my ward and look forward to working with them going forward to resolve some of the issues that we have here in Ettingshall.
