Donating blood

Yesterday, I donated blood! It was great to talk to the nurses at the centre where lots of locals were doing their bit to save lives.

And, I was pleased to hear that despite Covid-19, their centres were still as busy as ever because giving blood really does saves lives.

To meet demand, the NHS needs:- Nearly 400 new donors a day to meet the current demand- Around 135,000 new donors a year to replace those who can no longer donate- 40,000 more black donors to meet growing demand for better-matched blood- And, more young people to start giving blood so that they can make sure they have enough blood in the future.

And remember, giving blood saves lives. The blood you give is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments.
