Over the last few days, I have been out with my colleagues delivering some meat and veg vouchers to senior citizens in Ettingshall. This is a fantastic initiative funded by the Emma Bussey Trust and the Rotary Club of Bilston and Wolverhampton West.
Christmas can be an expensive time, with fuel bills on the rise, we’ve heard how much of a difference these vouchers can make to pensioners’ lives when the mounting costs of Christmas are upon them. I’ve spent time with some of these elderly people over the last few days and it’s deeply saddening to hear how many of them are now struggling to just get by due to austerity.
The Government must take responsibility and ensure that the most vulnerable in our society are looked after.
