As we draw to the end of #MentalHealthAwareness week, I want to thank all the mental health workers who work tirelessly to support people in our communities who struggle with their mental health.
I spoke to someone recently who lives on my estate in Ettingshall who came from Zimbabwe and works as a mental health community nurse in the city.This week she told of her joy (and mine), that after pressure from the Labour Party, Boris Johnson rightly U-turned on the surcharge for foreign National Health Service (NHS) and care workers.
She told me, “They can’t clap for us on a Thursday and make us feel unwanted every other day”.
This was the right decision.
