Drawing the end of ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’

As we draw to the end of ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’, I was pleased to join others for a Mayoral reception with children from the primary school where I’m a Governor at.

The children all received awards and prizes for their winning entries in to the Fairtrade art competition in the city.

Fairtrade is about understanding that the people who grow our food and drinks, mine our gold and who grow the cotton in our clothes, are people who are often exploited and underpaid.

And, Fairtrade ensures these people get a fair day’s wage.

The children’s artwork is now on display at the Central Library Wolverhampton! Thank you to Fairtrade in Wolverhampton for all they do to continue the message of hope for farmers all over the world.

It was a pleasure to join the Mayor in awarding some of the children’s prizes.
